James Gunn Says ‘No Plans’ To Replace Margot Robbie As Harley Quinn – Punch Drunk Critics

James Gunn is opening the door for Margot Robbie to return as Harley Quinn. Just yesterday, Robbie made some news by suggesting she’s moving on from the role she made popular in three movies: Suicide Squad, Birds of preyAnd Gunn’s Suicide Squad. Instead, she was keen to pass the torch to others, such as Lady Gaga who plays Harley Quinn in the upcoming film. Joker A sequel, but a disconnected Elseworlds movie.

While Gunn previously stated that only Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, John Cena as Peacemaker, and Zolo Mariduena as Blue Beetle would enter the DCU, he went back on threads when it came to Robbie.

“I haven’t talked to Margot about Harley in a long time,” He wrote. “But I would love to work with her again as Harley or as someone else. At this point there are no plans to play Harley (I mean, anyone other than Todd’s movie or animated show/s).”

We’re all probably looking at this through rose-colored glasses, myself included. Gunn can only say that there are currently no plans to use Harley Quinn. And when you go back and look at Robbie’s responses, he seems really willing to move on to different things.

There’s still plenty of time before the DCU launches with Gunn’s Superman: Legacy in Summer 2025. That film will begin the first chapter, titled God and Demons, along with five movies and five TV shows. Will Robbie’s Harley Quinn make it into one of them?
