Publisher taps West MI author for new “Minecraft” novel

Grand Rapids, Mich. — video games and reading—are often seen as two conflicting activities, with parents looking for ways to get children’s eyes off the television and into the pages of a book. As it turns out, combining the two can be a great way to get kids interested in reading.

Southwest Michigan author Danica Davidson recently wrote a book that is a perfect example. It is a collaboration with Swedish video game company Mojang Studios: a novel linked to the best-selling game of all time, Minecraft.

Davidson says that publisher Penguin Random House – the largest publisher in America – sought her out to write a new book based on her previous writings, including her 12-book tome. Minecraft The series is for children aged 7 to 12 years.

A new novel titled Minecraft: The Outsider was released in December 2023 and is part of a series of books based on the game for young readers. It depicts the story of two children, Jeremy and Valda, who must learn from each other’s cultures in order to put aside and save their differences. Minecraft Overworld with new types of zombies.
