Music tourism: Singer Adele attracts millions of fans to Munich
The city of Munich and the hotel and catering industry in the Bavarian capital are preparing for a huge influx of guests around the concert series of British singer and superstar Adele, who is now planning a total of ten live concerts in front of 80,000 spectators in Munich. 2 and 31 August. The hotel industry expects sharp growth in sales.
Adele’s concert not only increased ticket sales, but also increased international attention to Munich, as there are no other dates on Adele’s tour schedule outside the United States this year. It is certain that all dates planned at Messe for the event will be sold out.
Many fans will come from all over Germany and abroad and will need accommodation for a night or two. Hotel prices in Munich are currently on the high side for this time of year, but fluctuations are not yet extreme. On many of the dates surrounding the concert there are still three star hotel rooms in central locations that cost around 110 to 150 euros per night.
However, Adele fans will only be able to book their hotel after successfully purchasing their tickets, so we can expect prices to rise sharply. Tickets are being sold gradually and only after pre-registration on organizer Live Nation’s website, and 2.2 million people registered to get tickets on Monday 7 February, the opening date of the virtual ticket office.
