Marvel Theory is the most convincing way to introduce mutants

The introduction of mutants into the MCU has long been a topic of discussion among fans. In recent years, mutant characters have gradually evolved into the MCU’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Addressed like Marvel and Namor. However, Scarlet Witch’s mutant origins in the MCU were largely ignored.

A new Marvel theory, ripped straight from the pages of the comics, now suggests an alternative method for introducing mutants into the MCU. The theory also offers a way for the MCU to retrace Scarlet Witch’s origins and classify her as a mutant despite her use of pure magic. Tea Immortal X-Men #18 offers an interesting take on the origins of mutants that could be an ideal way to introduce mutants into the MCU.

A Marvel theory suggests a magical origin for mutants in the MCU

The origin of mutants is a hotly debated topic in the pages of Marvel Comics with only partial and vague explanations given to readers despite the characters having existed for over half a century. It is often believed that the mutant type’s powers originate from the X-gene, which itself is often explained with elements of science fiction. However, in Immortal X-Men #18, the origin of the X-Men is implied to be a magical origin.

In the issue, Mother Righteous claims that all mutants are connected to The White Hot Room, a mysterious realm in Marvel Comics linked to the concept of creation. Mother Righteous also states that any advanced mutation is indistinguishable from magic, implying that all mutants are magical creatures. As a result, assuming that Mother Righteous is telling the truth, the mutant kind have magical origins.

The same idea can be carried forward into the MCU, where mutants have yet to be fully introduced. While other superheroes in the MCU derive their powers from elements of science fiction, mutants can be distinguished by their magical origins. In the MCU, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and Namor’s powers have global roots. However, their roots can be reattached and combined with magic.

Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch supports the mutant theory

The existence of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and her chaotic magical powers lends support to the theory that the MCU’s mutants may have magical origins. In the comics, Wanda is primarily a mutant who later transforms into a mutant sorceress.
