Jenna Ortega joins the cast of the remake of Misery
The remake of Misery is based on the novel by Stephen King and was brought to the big screen in 1990 by Rob Renner.
“Sadness” is a story that has captured the imagination and fear of audiences over the years.
The new approach is reportedly the brainchild of Trey Edward Shults, best known for his 2015 debut film “Krisha”. Shults teamed up with Abel Tesfaye to write this new version, also known as The Weeknd. In an interesting twist, The Weeknd not only co-wrote, but also leads the cast, playing a famous singer, while Jenna Ortega takes on the role of her insatiable fan/stalker. This modern approach reproduces key elements of the original film, but with a new level of complexity and topicality. Additionally, it has been revealed that the production will use the same house that appeared in the film sorrow Since 1990, adding a nostalgic touch to this new version.
Original film sorrow, which starred James Caan and Kathy Bates, is remembered for its intensity and the raw emotion it evoked, especially in the iconic Hammer scene. This legacy sets a high bar for remakes, challenging them to match or even surpass the intensity and impact of the original. Shults’ film has the opportunity to explore new dimensions of terror and obsession in the digital age, a theme that certainly resonates in today’s society.
Although official plot details remain TBC and no release date has been announced, the anticipation surrounding this project is high. The combination of the talents of Shults and The Weeknd, with the promise of a fresh take on a tried-and-true story, makes this film one of the most anticipated.
The film industry continues to demonstrate its fascination with reimagining and reinterpreting classics, and sorrow There is no exception. With its legacy in the thriller genre and its relevance in popular culture, this remake promises to be a talking point for both fans of the original and a new generation of viewers.
