Despite the winter period, covid continues to decline to very low levels, which is favorable for the spread of the virus. As shown in the map below, the decline in Covid circulation continues into early February.

The decline in covid continues

During the week of 22 to 28 January and the week of 29 January to 4 February only 13 departments registered an increase in Covid circulation, mainly marked in Savoie (+100%), Ordre (+73.8%) and Isère (+36). %).

Despite this increase in 13 departments, the circulation of covid is at a very low level. Savoie has only 3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, Isère 9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and Orne 12 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, clearly showing an increase in perspective.

A very rare occurrence

Apart from Charente-Maritime, with an incidence of 15 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, it is the north-east that is most affected: Ardennes, Meuse, Meurthe-et-Moselle and Moselle have an incidence between 11. and 14 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Only Landes, Orne and Yonne have an incidence exceeding 10 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in France, as shown in the map below. However, please note that the incidence is calculated only by tests performed in the laboratory, and no longer in pharmacies.

A decrease confirmed this week with an average incidence of 6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants compared to 8 the previous week, indicates Sante Public France in its weekly bulletin.

Little effect on crisis

In the hospital, there were more emergency room visits for flu symptoms, 11,494 or 3.2% of emergency room visits, than for Covid, 1,011 or 0.3% of the total. A national average that, however, hides disparities at the local level. Thus, as shown in the map below, departments located in the larger southwest quarter are recording more emergency room visits for suspected Covid.

1.03% of emergency room visits are for Covid in Lozaire, 0.9% in Lot-et-Garonne, 0.73% in Landes, significantly higher than the national average. Note, however, a clear decrease compared to two months ago, when the worst-affected department, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, recorded 3.77% of emergency room visits for suspected Covid.

The flu epidemic continues

Regarding other epidemics under surveillance, Public Health France notes that bronchiolitis indicators are stabilizing or increasing slightly, but at low levels, with all French regions out of the epidemic.

On the other hand, flu epidemics continue with stabilization of most indicators in community medicine and increased activity in hospitals.
