Calendar of holidays in the United States in 2024

The year 2024 has already started and it is important to know which festival dates and holidays will be marked in the current calendar.

In the United States, 11 days of work holiday are established, in addition, there are other related holidays for residents of that country. Here we explain.

Federal holidays

In the United States, the following 11 federal holidays are established each year.

-New Year 1st January.

-Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday (third Monday in January): January 15.

-Washington’s Birthday or President’s Day (Third Monday in February): 19th February.

-Memorial Day (last Monday in May): May 27.

-Juneteenth Day: 19th June.

– Independence Day: 4th of July.

– Labor Day or Labor Day (First Monday in September): 2 September.

-Columbus Day (Second Monday in October): 14th October.

– Veterans Day or Veterans Day: 11th November.

-Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving Day (Fourth Thursday in November): November 28.

– Christmas is on 25th December.

Only during those days, companies and public institutions suspend their work activities and pay their employees for the whole day. Meanwhile, private companies reserve Right to work or not.

Non-Federal Holidays

The following list includes non-federal holidays observed each year in the United States.

-Groundhog Day: 2 February.

-Chinese New Year: Starts on February 10.

-Mardi Gras: February 13.

-Valentine’s Day: 14th February.

-Ash Wednesday: February 14.

-St. Patrick’s Day: March 17.

-Good Friday or Good Friday: March 29.

-Easter or Easter Sunday: 31st March.

-5th of May: May 5th.

-Mother’s Day (second Sunday in May): 12 May.

– Flag Day: 14th June.

-Father’s Day (Third Sunday of June): June 16.

-Halloween: 31 October.

– Christmas Eve: 24 Dec.

-Hanukkah: December 25 to January 2.

-New Year’s Eve: 31 December.
