A boat with 39 Haitians stops in Villa Clara
A boat with 39 Haitians landed this Sunday in Villa Clara, a point off the northern tip of Caibarien.
It was a sailboat carrying 33 men, 5 women and a child, official journalist Henri Omar Perez reported on his network.
Information says that all the migrants are in good health after being examined by medical personnel.
Local authorities of the Communist Party and the government toured the landing site.
All are in good health at this time.
“Our country is extending solidarity support to these people who were sailing in bad weather due to the northerlies coming through the area,” the post concluded.
This is not the first time that Haitian migrant boats bound for the United States have arrived in Caibarien or other areas of the northern Cuban coast.
In late May 2022, more than 800 Haitians arrived in Kebarien by accident, They were released by the captain of the boatwho also left them without means of communication.
Cuban authorities in June of the same year They rescued a group of Haitians who ended up in Baracoa, Guantanamo. on a sailboat, and began the process of repatriating them to their country.
With a severe economic, political and social crisis Haiti has a high migration flow, mainly people who want to find better living conditions or escape the country’s internal conflicts.
