Fortunately, there are plenty of charms and foods you can craft to improve your resistance to certain temperatures. However, those items, especially charms, require some extremely rare resources, including rubies. If you’re hoping to find Ruby but don’t know where to look, don’t panic. Ruby is a biome-specific, cool-red-colored ore deposit found only in lava caves located in dry valleys. Rubies are usually found near lava or in hard-to-reach places high up in lava caves, which means you’ll need to be prepared with materials to craft them or use a grappler. If you find yourself in a normal dry canyon cave without the presence of lava, the chances of you finding a ruby are extremely rare.
To mine rubies, you’ll need to craft a rare or high-level pickaxe. Any level below RARE will not be able to mine rubies at all. When mining rubies, they are usually found in clusters, each dropping two pieces of rough ruby. This means that stockpiling rubies will be beneficial because this resource does not drop a significant amount of content.

Furthermore, escaping the heat of the dry valleys is similar to staying warm in the frigid temperatures of the Frostlands. To avoid dying in the heat, players must acquire or craft heat resistance charms such as the Cool-Headed Charm. However, if players don’t have access to one of these charms yet, getting Snowberries and Snowberry Shakes is another way to keep cool. While this is not a permanent fix, it will help you survive the heat for a significant amount of time, especially if you have large amounts of consumables.
