LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM. Thursday 20 April 2023 – Formula E today announced the return of the elite international esports sim racing competition, the Accelerate Championship. The first round will take place before the 2023 SABIC Berlin E-Prix in Germany this Saturday and Sunday (April 22-23).

In its third season, Accelerate brings together the best racing gamers in the world with a prize pool of 40,000 euros. Competitors will race in all-new GEN3 racing car simulators on Formula E circuits, while representing teams in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Last weekend (April 15 and 16) the first online qualifying series were held, with 88 participants. Twenty-two will proceed to the first round of Berlin, which will be broadcast live at the Allianz Fan Village Gaming Arena from 12:00 CET on Saturday 22 April at the Allianz Fan Village of the Berlin race and online on channels Official YouTube and Twitch of Formula E.

Two rounds will take place in Berlin and on the 2023 Hankook Rome E-Prix weekend, on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July. The top 11 competitors from the events in Berlin and Rome will earn a place in the live Accelerate Championship Finale to be held at ExCeL London as part of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship’s season-ending grand weekend on Saturday. 29 and Sunday 30 July.

Capitalizing on the appeal of the Accelerate Championship to the global gaming community, Formula E is launching a new influencer-led esports series. Accelerate AMPED will bring together 11 influencers, each of whom will represent Formula E teams and generate competitive entertainment content.

Participating influencers will try to score points to help their teams take home the Accelerate Team Championship.

The AMPED Accelerate Playoffs will take place concurrently with the Accelerate Championships in Berlin and Rome, giving fans the chance to watch the action live on the Gaming Arena stage. The Accelerate AMPED Final will also take place live during the 2023 Hankook London E-Prix weekend.

Oracle Red Bull Racing Esports driver Frede Rasmussen has won the previous two Accelerate Championships in 2021 and 2022.
