Dead Island 2 surpassed one million sales in the first 3 days

Dead Island 2 surpassed one million sales in its first weekend of availability, according to publisher Deep Silver.

Nearly a decade after it was first revealed, Dead Island 2 launched on Friday for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

And in a press release on Monday, Deep Silver claimed that the game reached the one million sales milestone in three days.

It said gamers have logged 11 million hours of playtime, died 28 million times, and killed more than 1.1 billion zombies since the title’s launch.

First announced in 2014, the zombie action RPG suffered a series of delays and developer changes during a turbulent production cycle.

It was originally in the works at Spec Ops: The Line’s Yager studio before Sumo Digital took over development duties. Dambuster, an internal Deep Silver studio, took over development in 2019.
