The festive atmosphere and the joy that living the Qatar World Cup 2022 was affected this Tuesday after it was known the death of a security guard who remained in the Intensive Care Unit for three days due to a serious fall.

The shocking episode occurred last Saturday in the middle of the game between Argentina Y Netherlands for the quarterfinals of the international championship. It was there that the 24-year-old Kenyan John Njau Kibue fell from one of the stands at Lusail Stadium while on duty.

The organization of the World Cup in Qatar issued a statement and explained that “the medical teams of the stadium immediately rushed to the scene and treated him before transferring him by ambulance to the ICU at Hamad Medical Hospital”.

“We regret to announce that despite the efforts of your medical team, Unfortunately, he passed away in the hospital on Tuesday, December 13, after spending three days in the intensive care unit. His relatives have been informed, ”reported the Supreme Delivery and Legacy Committee (SC), the entity in charge of the World Cup infrastructure.

“We send our sincere condolences to his family, colleagues and friends at this difficult time,” he added.

At the same time, the organization highlighted that, “They are urgently investigating the circumstances that led to the fall and will provide more information pending the outcome of the investigation.”

“Also we will make sure that your family receives all outstanding fees and sums of money”, concluded the letter. That day the quarterfinal match between the Netherlands and Argentina was played at the Lusail stadium, in which, fatally, also American informant Grant Wahl has died.

Later it was learned that two other journalists had also died during the tournament, Khalid al-Misslam Y Roger Pearce.

Unfortunately, this is not the first death that has occurred due to a fall at a World Cup venue since, last week, Qatar opened an investigation into the death of a Filipino worker following reports that the man he had died while working at a training site during the World Cup.
