Olimpia showed no mercy in beating Motagua 4-0 and thanks to their victory they are the new leader of the 2022-2023 Apertura Tournament of the Honduran National League.
Gabriel Araujo, Jerry Bengtson, Michaell Chirinos and Jorge Álvarez, were in charge of scoring the goals that gave the victory to the Olympic team under a spectacular setting of fans that came to the Morazan Stadium in San Pedro Sula.
Thanks to this result, the Olympia rises to the top of Honduran soccer with two days to go before the end of the regular rounds by adding 32 points.
For his part the Motagua is relegated to second place with 31 units.
In third place is Olancho FC with 29 points, which earlier also thrashed Real Sociedad at home and is one of the surprising candidates for the title.
Real España is fourth with 25 points followed by Marathón and Vida who share 23. Victoria is seventh with 22.
Now without playoff options and at the bottom of the standings, UPN is eighth with 12 pts, the same number as Honduras Progreso, but Progreso has a worse goal difference.
Real Sociedad de Tocoa is last with just nine points.
