Actress Anne Hathaway got to know the world of superheroes by playing Catwoman in The dark knight rises. As rewarding as the role was for the actor, it also put a lot of pressure on Hathaway. Especially when he realized an important detail about the role that made him nauseous.

For Anne Hathaway, being in The dark knight rises It came with a certain level of expectation. Nolan wanted Hathaway to be as strong as possible for the role. So much so that he referenced another actor’s training for Start to motivate Hathaway.
“’When we did StartJoseph Gordon-Levitt trained for 12 weeks to do a four-day stunt sequence because he wanted to do every take,’” Hathaway recalled Nolan telling Variety. “’I want you to do as much stunt work as you can. I need you to be strong enough to do that. I can’t have you being one of those actors who does one take, two takes, and then you’re too tired. I want you to do everything.’”
Hathaway felt that this was what she needed to hear to truly dedicate herself to Catwoman.
“That’s what he told me to make me embrace the physical side of the character and really commit to it,” he explained.
Anne Hathaway once realized something about her Catwoman that made her nauseous
For Hathaway, being Catwoman in a Christopher Nolan film was a dream come true. even back in it princess diaries Days, I would have preferred to be Gotham’s anti-hero instead of royalty.
“It was fun for me because when I started, I got my big break with The princess’s Diary, and during the press rounds for that, everyone asked me, ‘Did you always want to be a princess growing up?’ And the truth was that no, I wanted to be Catwoman. And I think a lot of women feel that way,” Hathaway once told Collider.
Hathaway also realized that Catwoman would be Nolan’s first action heroine. until until rises, it was mostly male actors who played the more physical and heroic roles. When this caught Hathaway’s attention, it was a revelation for the star.
“I didn’t realize it was my first and I feel a little nauseous, that’s a lot of pressure. I couldn’t feel more privileged to walk on set every day. I’m the most annoying happy person, because every day I walk on set I just want to do back flips because of how happy I am to be here. I would have been street cop number three if it meant working with Chris Nolan, and I get to play Catwoman! I hope not to disappoint you,” she said.

To further prepare for the role, Hathaway wanted to work with real cats to rises. But she was later convinced of the idea of buying a pet just for the role of an actress.
“I actually had this moment when I convinced one of the assistant directors on the London part of the film to bring me a cat, the idea was that we were going to get a kitten from a rescue shelter, and he was going to to live. me, and he was going to watch it, and when I left London he was going to give it to him,” he once said in Interview magazine. “Then, luckily, her husband pointed out that that was a terrible idea on many levels, not the least of which was that it would probably be very confusing to the cat.”
Still, the Oscar winner would go on to find another way to use cats as inspiration for her acting.
“So I turned to YouTube and got a video from National Geographic about cats,” he added.
