Chris Pratt previewed how his portrayal of Star-Lord in Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will differ

Although almost three years have passed since the Guardians of the Galaxy last appeared on screen in the context of Avengers: Endgamesoon the space heroes of Marvel Studios will return with an abundance of content as while the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is just scheduled for next year, Star-Lord and company will not only appear with cameos in Thor: Love and Thunderbut will star in their own Christmas Special at the end of the year.

In that sense, while obviously Marvel Studios still does not plan to advance anything specific about the plot of these projects, Chris Pratt addressed something that is equally striking: the difference between their interpretations of Star-Lord.

After all, while in the Guardians movies Star-Lord’s development has been done under the tutelage of James Gunn, the character’s most recent appearances in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame Y Thor: Love and Thunder have been dictated by the Russo Brothers and Taika Waititi respectively.

Thus, although Peter Quill remains the same, Pratt felt that certain elements will be different in his version of the character in Thor: Love and Thunder Y Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

More about Marvel Studios

“There’s James Gunn’s Peter Quill and there’s the Peter Quill who has existed away from James Gunn, in cameos in The Avengers and now in Thor.” Pratt told Gizmodo. “So really, the Peter Quill I play when James is in charge is an extension of him, and the Peter Quill I play when he’s not in charge is just me being free to do a little bit more than I want to do or probably More than he would want me to do in some way.”

So I think the difference would be that James Gunn has a guide for Quill that is not there for Thor or Avengers. added. “So we’ll see how that plays out when it comes out. I mean, obviously we’re dealing with the Avengers ending that left the Guardians of the Galaxy with Thor. We’ll see how that kind of transition works to set up (Guardians of the Galaxy) Vol. 3″.

Gunn had previously commented that it influenced the characterization of the Guardians of the Galaxy in Thor: Love and Thunder, so although Waititi is still the director of the new film of the god of thunder there will not be a total disconnection with the development of Quill and company in a story that apparently will feature the Guardians of the Galaxy to encourage the son of Odin to continue with his adventures as a superhero.

While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will premiere in May 2023, Thor: Love and Thunder It will debut on July 7.
