Sylvester Stallone added a very special role to his acting career for the wicked antihero blockbuster The Suicide Squad. The animated shark-human hybrid King Shark, the ultra voracious, more brutal version of Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy, the star has given his grumpy voice.
After the DC outing, Stallone will soon be starring again in a superhero movie in which he plays a much more serious role. Now a first description of the Samaritan trailer has emerged, which triggers a lot of anticipation and a exciting alternative to Marvel and DC promises.
Samaritan trailer with Sylvester Stallone as a mix of John Wick and Unbreakable
In the plot of the film, Stallone plays the older Stanley Kominski, who is a kind of equipment collector in a dystopian, crime-ridden future. When he protects the young Sam (Javon Walton) from thugs, it turns out that Stallone’s protagonist has special abilities and actually a retired superhero who faked his death 30 years ago.

Sean O’Connell from Collider saw Samaritan’s first trailer at CinemaCon in Las Vegas and raves about the impressions. Stallone’s older superhero wearing a broken hoodie in the trailer, reminds him of Bruce Willis in Unbreakable.
Apparently, Samaritan will be a superhero film similar to M. Night Shyamalan’s work, which will revisit the theme in contrast to DC and Marvel much more down to earth and grounded concerns. As a result, the flick could especially captivate those who are saturated by the two greatest comic film universes.
The Collider editor reveals from the trailer that there is also a short flashback from Stallone’s past in superhero costume. Otherwise Samaritan should revolve around the older Stallone in the present. But it doesn’t save on action. O’Connell describes the fights shown in the trailer with one John Wick comparison, while the action should be filmed brutally and stylishly.
Stallone already showed with a picture on Instagram that the superhero film is not going to be squeamish bloody face revealed on set:
