As a muscleman with superpowers, Chris Hemsworth has secured a prime role for himself over the past 10 years thanks to Thor. His constant appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe quickly distract from the fact that the star has also acted in other films in between.
This also includes the thriller Bad Times at the El Royale, which you can watch today at 11:05 p.m. on ProSieben. The Thor actor is part of an impressive star ensemble between names like Dakota Johnson, Jeff Bridges or Jon Hamm. The highlight is still Hemsworth as sadistic-seductive psychopathas you seldom experience it.
Chris Hemsworth is never as unleashed at Marvel as in Bad Times at the El Royale
Even in the Marvel film universe, Hemsworth already has one striking change as Thor laid down. With Taika Waititi as the director of the third solo film at the latest, the Australian was able to live out his comedy talent to the full and transform Thor into one of the funniest MCU characters. In Avengers: Endgame, this development was then taken to extremes by Fat Thor.

The different facets of Hemsworth in his star role are still only small steps compared to his character in Bad Times at the El Royale. The film, which gathers a group of randomly thrown together people in an abandoned hotel, is teeming with drastic turns, repeated changes of perspective and nasty surprises.
For a long time, the character of Chris Hemsworth seems more like a myth that is only conjured up late in the film. His character of the diabolical sect leader comes close to a bang, which is not only the case consistently upper body free appearance of the star.
Most of all, Hemsworth plays the mysterious character great between attractive seducer and sadistic killer. When he finally arrives at the hotel, Bad Times at the El Royale becomes a particularly diabolical tightrope between life and death due to its demonic, unpredictable charisma. Nobody thinks of the entertaining Marvel thunder god here. Such a role shows that there is much more to Hemsworth that it should act out more often.
