“Foodie Love” in the Arte Mediathek – love in the café
When it comes to her passion for food, Ella makes no compromises: She doesn’t like people who invite you to dinner and clear your plate before you’re done. And then make a noise while washing the dishes, as if they wanted to throw you out. El is also a gourmet with clear ideas. The Argentines detest compatriots who say over a first-class dinner: There’s nothing like a good barbecue! Or restaurant guests who take photos of their food before they have tasted a bite of it.
No wonder they both choose a gourmet dating app to look for a partner – and inevitably bump into each other. The Spanish HBO series “Foodie Love” tells of the sensual rapprochement between two culinary nerds – and it’s not just about food! Laia Costa, known from Sebastian Schipper’s thriller “Victoria”, and Guillermo Pfening shine in the leading roles. The eight-part series is ready available in the Arte media library until May 31, 2022.

“Mirai” – an excellent poetic animation film for the family
Mamoru Hosada studied art and started making animation films in the late 1990s. One of the most successful films at the Japanese box office in 2006 was “The Girl Who Leaped Through Time”. In 2018 he processed his experiences as a young father in the wonderfully complex family film “Mirai – The Girl from the Future”, which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival. A boy who loves trains will one day become Mirai’s big brother. The arrival of the sister turns the life of the family of four upside down. Sometimes Kun gets lost in a fantastic world in which his sister already stands in front of him as a teenager and experiences adventures with him. With great ease and attention to detail, Hosada tells a story of jealousy, family space and consolation. The film is finished available in the Arte media library until September 2nd.
