The cinemas were closed for eight months in the second lockdown – now they are back! The Filmpalast at the ZKM also opened its doors again last Thursday. The first conclusion after the corona-related forced break is positive.
The joy of reunion was very great
The joy of seeing each other was equally great among guests and employees: the cinemas in Germany are finally open again and a full program has been shown in all ten halls in the Filmpalast at the ZKM since last Thursday.
The interest of the visitors in finally seeing films together on the big screen again was great. This was already indicated in the previous days on the basis of the positive advance sales figures, informed the film papalist at the ZKM in a press release.
Some performances were sold out
Although only 30 percent of the seats in the halls can currently be occupied due to the capacity restrictions, the Filmpalast at the ZKM welcomed many regular guests and film buffs in front of the big screen on the opening weekend from Thursday to Sunday. Some performances were even sold out due to the capacity restriction.
Down to the smallest detail, the cinema had adjusted to the applicable state regulations and informed the guests as best as possible about current hygiene rules. In spite of the high number of visitors and the necessary recording of contact data for all visitors, admission mostly worked smoothly.
“Missed the smell of popcorn”
In the Filmpalast at the ZKM, it is still mandatory to wear mouth and nose protection in the general cinema area until further notice. At the seat, however, this can be removed briefly to enjoy popcorn and drinks. The distance between the guests is currently two places.
“We are so happy that life is finally returning to our cinema. How did my staff and I miss our guests, the unique atmosphere and the smell of popcorn, ”says Tilman Bandel, theater director of the Filmpalast at the ZKM Karlsruhe.
