They are three of the most famous and successful singers of our time: Shakira, Alicia Keys and Katy Perry. From Shakira there is a Thursday evening MTV Unplugged Live concert in SWR3.

Shakira – MTV Unplugged: The Spanish Album
Colombian Latin/pop singer Shakira took part MTV Unplugged In 1999 in New York the first live album of her career. It brought the singer a Grammy Award in the category Best Latin Pop Album and was her breakthrough in America. The special feature: The songs of Shakira’s Unplugged concert are sung entirely in Spanish, a premiere in the history of MTV Unplugged. Their first album with English-language songs such as Whenever, Wherever or Underneath Your Clothes published it only after MTV Unplugged. On it are songs like Sombra De Ti or Inevitable.
Alicia Keys – Unplugged: The successful album
For the American soul singer Alicia Keys Unplugged the first live album of her career. Recorded for the concert series MTV Unplugged it was in 2005 in New York. It consists of songs like Fallin’ and If I Ain’t Got You from their two albums Songs In A Minor and The Diary Of Alicia Keys. Alicia Keys made it directly to number one in the American charts with her unplugged album. With over 245,000 records sold after a week, it broke Nirvana’s record as the best debut of a MTV Unplugged Album.
Katy Perry – MTV Unplugged: The Star Album
American pop singer Katy Perry just had her album One Of The Boys including the hit I Kissed A Girl when she released her acoustic concert for the series in 2009 MTV Unplugged in New York. After more than 100 concerts, the music channel wanted to appeal to younger viewers and therefore selected well-known pop artists such as Katy Perry. She was very interested in an unplugged concert because it allowed her to tell the stories behind her songs. For a ticket, fans had to send a photo and explain why they are fans of Katy Perry.
