And it’s not long away…
It feels like an eternity that the long-awaited return of the “Friends” is already being planned, but the implementation had to give way again and again. But then it happened very quickly: In April, the shooting of the reunion special of the cult series was finally completed. And already now the “Friends” comeback is to be broadcast.
Lead actress Jennifer Aniston (52) makes it official and announces the date on Instagram: On May 27, the time will come – then the revival will be shown on the streaming service HBO Max. 17 years after the end of the sitcom.
“Could we be even more excited?” writes megastar Aniston. Hardly!
The second best news: The complete main cast is back. In addition to Aniston, fans can look forward to Lisa Kudrow (57), Matthew Perry (51), David Schwimmer (54), Courteney Cox (56) and Matt LeBlanc (53).
Before everyone freaks out completely: There’s a catch!
HBO Max is currently not running in Europe, so for the time being we only have the original show in Germany, which can be seen on Netflix. But perhaps Sky can show the special, the pay-TV giant from Unterföhring maintains a partnership with HBO, most recently showing the HBO Max films “Wonder Woman 1984” and “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”. Or the HBO series “Game of Thrones”.
Second but: The reunion will not be a classic sequel, so no new “Friends” season. Phoebe actress Lisa Kudrow (57) has already confirmed this: “It’s not a reboot.”
Instead, it should be an improvised reunion of the actors without them playing their roles. Alleged duration: One hour.
