It was June 23, 1991, when SEGA released Sonic The Hedgehog, the first game of the blue hedgehog, the beginning of a dazzling career that in a few years would see the character protagonist of numerous successful titles.
Sonic The Hedgehog (later also released on Master System and Game Gear) is followed by Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (which sees the debut of Tails), Sonic The Hedgehog 3, and other popular titles including Sonic CD, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, and Sonic 3D Blast, just to name a few. Sonic R, Sonic Jam, and Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast date back to the end of the 90s, a title that shows the potential of the 128-bit SEGA console and which will enjoy a sequel published in 2001.
In the 2000s Sonic continues to be the protagonist with games such as Sonic Rush, Sonic Mania, Sonic Advance, and Sonic 4, less fortunate are titles such as Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic Forces, Sonic Unleashed, and Sonic The Hedgehog for PS3 and Xbox 360.
After mixed fortunes, in recent years Sonic has returned in great shape (also thanks to the tow of Sonic The Movie ) and there are many projects in the pipeline for the 30th anniversary, including Sonic Origins (a collection that includes Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic CD) as well as Sonic Colors Ultimate and a new Sonic game coming in 2022.
