Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Also Made Darth Revan Canonical

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the ninth and final film of the Skywalker saga, has been in the cinema for a few days and the fans, who have returned several times to review the work of JJ Abrams in the room, have found an important clue related to Dart Revan.

Apparently, in fact, Episode IX could have made the character of the expanded universe of Legends canonical: the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Visual Dictionary plunges into the Sith troops, the red-armored soldiers who are part of the “Final Order” by Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) which are introduced in the third act of the film. The compendium reveals that Sith troops are divided into three legions of 5,000 units, each of which is named after an ancient Sith Lord, but ” only Sith cultists know the meaning of these names “. One of these legions is called the ” Revan Legion “, which appears to be a reference to none other than Darth Revan.

Revan was born in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic video game and quickly became one of the most important figures in that corner of the Legends universe. The game established that Revan was a loyal member of the Jedi Order, only to later reveal that he was a former Sith lord who had been brainwashed by the Jedi, who gave him a new identity.

The character became popular enough to gain some fame and fans hoped to see him enter the main canon: The Last Jedi had already anticipated his existence in a subtle way when it was hinted that the Kyber crystal of his lightsaber was among Luke Skywalker’s relics on Ahch-To.

The other four legions of Sith soldiers are named Andeddu, Tanis, Tenebrous, Phobos and Desolous, with the last two introduced in the 2008 video game The Force Unleashed, which George Lucas used to tell about a few years between the prequel and the original trilogy.
