17 million French people receive a payment of 760 euros

The beginning of the year has been marked by financial difficulties, but there are also reasons for optimism. Despite the increase in energy costs, good news awaits 17 million French people: they will receive a little more money than usual. This supplement will help offset rising energy bills.

On February 9, 2024, a new financial addition will be paid to your account. This is the regular payment of CNAV retirement pension. However, these payments will be slightly higher than in January.

5.3% increase in retirement pension

It is during the next payment that the 5.3% increase promised by the government will finally take effect. As a reminder, this increase was officially launched on January 1, but due to technical constraints, it could not be implemented during the last payment. In January, so you received payment corresponding to December. However, in February you will receive payment corresponding to January, which will include this long-awaited increase.

According to estimates by the Oblaco Institute, this significant increase in the basic pension means that retirees will receive an average of €40 extra per month. The current average is €720, so it will rise to €760. However, it’s worth remembering that each pension varies based on your career and your contributions, so it’s possible that some retirees will see a different increase.

This 5.3% increase is truly historic. Indeed, the last time such an increase was recorded was in July 1982, when the basic pension was increased by 7.40%. Such increases are rare because the basic pension is usually adjusted for inflation, without seeing such a significant increase.

It may be noted that other retirement pensions also saw an increase on January 1. Beneficiaries of MSA, various public sector funds (Ircantec, SRE, CNRACL, RAFP) and special schemes (RCI, CNIEG, CPRP SNCF/RATP, CRPN, CRPCEN, etc.) will also see their pensions increase by around 5.3%. . This modest increase is good news for all retirees.
