Tonight on TV: You love her as Milady, find Eva Green conquering the stars with Thomas Peskett… : Cinema and Series

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a movie to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: An intimate and powerful drama that will move you.

Proxima is the story of French astronaut Sarah (Eva Green) who is preparing to leave Earth for a one-year mission. While she follows the rigorous training imposed on astronauts, the only woman among men, she is especially preparing to be separated from her eight-year-old daughter.

Released in theaters in 2019, this intimate and powerful play, with its refined staging, is not to be missed. While it immerses the viewer in the fascinating everyday life of astronaut training, it also highlights the swirling mother-daughter relationship.

“I know this report very well because I have a 10-year-old little girl.”, director Alice Winokore revealed on our microphone while promoting the film. “I found this idea of leaving Earth interesting, which echoes the girl’s separation.

Thus the scenario is constructed like the separation stage of a rocket. So Proxima deals with the subject of separation, how to manage it, but also how to manage your guilt as a mother.”

Proxima was built with the help of the European Space Agency. The film team thus had access to real locations frequented by astronauts, and which were never filmed: the Cologne training center, which is the base of the European Space Agency, the closed city of Star City near Moscow, and finally the Baikonur Cosmodrome. , a military base surrounded by outposts, the only place from which rockets actually take off to reach the International Space Station. Therefore, no sets were made and no models were used.

Since the beginning of the writing, Alice Winokour has moved from Cologne to the premises of the European Space Agency. Thomas Peskett, who was preparing for his first flight, was present. The film also features a French astronaut.
