To “reduce toxicity”, Helldivers 2 makes a radical choice
Game news To “reduce toxicity”, Helldivers 2 makes a radical choice
If we still struggle to know what this moment’s soft co-op has in store for us for the future, we at least know which game modes the developers will never add, and for one simple and admirable goal: overkill at any cost. Toxic to avoid
Between heaven and hell
It’s the cooperative game of the moment. Helldivers II Ready to send you and your friends into the heart of the battlefield to protect Super-Earth and take part in hyper-contextual conflict, face off against Starship Troopers-style aliens, Terminator-style robots, all in the skin of ‘a space’. Marines more fragile than Warhammer 40K, but just as capable.
Released both on PC via Steam and on PS5, Arrowhead Game Studio’s game has managed to enlist as many players as possible who are ready to die on the field of honor in an epic and instantly entertaining skirmish. The software is currently a hit and regularly records connection records on its launch platform. A surprising success for Arrowhead, which has faced numerous server overload issues since the game’s launch on February 8. That being said, when Helldivers II is playable, it’s really fun. So much so that players are now waiting to find out what the studio has in store for them in the future. But if Roadmap Still unclear, we at least know what the developers won’t be offering.

Strict selection to avoid excessive toxicity
Given the excitement generated by Helldivers II, players are inevitably excited at the thought of exploring the rest of the space battle. Helldivers II is an enjoyable title, but one that unfortunately suffers from a certain futility, especially after passing level 20 which allows you to unlock most of the tactics and infantry special abilities. The game currently has two Battle Passes – one free and one paid – with which it is possible to retrieve weapons and various equipment, but again these elements do little to renew the experience on offer.
While waiting to learn more about the future of the software, developers share some information when the opportunity arises. And we already know one thing: Helldivers II will never offer a PvP mode. Arrowhead CEO Johan Pillestad said this during an exchange on Twitter.
hey; We will add PvP-mode “never”. This is to reduce toxins from the community.
We want an environment that is supportive, fun and where we are all fighting on the same side!

We will never add a PvP mode. This is to reduce toxicity that may come from the community. We want an environment that is supportive, fun and we are all fighting on the same side.
Additionally, the developer clarified his statement when a user accused him of fear mongering. “Not afraid“, he declared before adding:”We don’t want the toxicity that naturally comes with (this type of game mode). There are plenty of titles, most of them, that offer PvP. We make games for people who just want to share the challenge with friends, but in a PvE setting.”
As it stands, Helldivers II doesn’t offer PvP, but it does have friendly fire as an essential component of the experience. Player toxicity can stem entirely from this component, a notion that Johan Pillestad seems to recognize, but so affirms that Arrowhead doesn’t want to create a more toxic environment by implementing a PvP mode. An admirable decision, one that should disappoint many players.
