Times Square shooting, tourist injured, shooter still wanted
Police identified the juvenile involved as “extremely dangerous.”
New York police are searching for a 15-year-old boy suspected of fatally shooting a Brazilian tourist in the leg at a Times Square sports store. He then allegedly shot twice at a police officer chasing him through the streets of the city center before taking refuge in the metro.
Police have identified the teenager as a resident of a migrant shelter in Manhattan who came to New York from Venezuela late last year. He is also considered a suspect in an armed robbery in the Bronx and another shooting in Times Square last month, police said.
“The current priority for the city, its police services and our federal partners is to keep this man out of harm’s way.”The teenager, John Chell, chief of patrol for the New York Police Department, said at a press conference Friday afternoon“extremely dangerous”.
