Should you go for Canal+ offers at reduced prices?

Free made its mark in late January by unveiling Freebox Ultra, a complete offering that packs a punch for streaming. Among the services included with the new Freebox, we get the Canal+ live channel which comes in the form of a separate subscription taken with Canal+. The ISP signed a partnership with the group to become the first to offer an encrypted channel in its TV package. Subscribers can access content (latest movies, sports, series, etc.) from “4” without paying extra euros. An interesting presence that allows you to save 15.99 euros/month, but which happens without myCANAL.

To avail the service, you have to pay extra and now we know a little more about it. As explained by the @Hackoris account on X, a function has just appeared that allows you to modify your offer.

In the Canal+ consumer segment, Freebox Ultra subscribers are now offered three enhanced offers. They are available without re-subscription:

  • Canal + (Canal+, Box Office, Grand Screen, Sport 360, Series, Docs, Kids, Apple TV+) 7 Euro/month instead of 22.99 Euro/month
  • Canal Cine Series (Canal+ Cinema(s), Disney+, Netflix, Paramount+, OCS Max, OCS Pulp, OCS Giants, Series, Famiz, Insomnia, Cine+ Channels) 19 Euro/month instead of 34.99 Euro/month
  • Canal+ Sport (Canal+, Box Office, Sport, Foot, Sport 360, BIN Sports, Dezen, Golf+, MultiSports, Foot+) 19 Euro/month instead of 34.99 Euro/month

Other channel offers like Friends and Family are not available.

Are these subscriptions really interesting?

Assuming you’re interested in streaming and Canal+ content, the answer is obviously yes. Freebox Ultra confirms its status as an “ultra-complete” offering by including CANAL + The Live Channel, TV Via CANAL and Universal +, Netflix (standard with ads), Disney + (standard with ads) and Prime Video. Here’s how much it costs you, adding a rich channel + offer:

Without the Enhanced Canal+ offer With Canal+ offer With Canal Cine series offer With Canal+ Sport offer
Freebox Ultra – First Year (€49.99/month) €599.88/year €683.88/year €827.88/year €827.88/year
Freebox Ultra (€59.99/month) after the first year €719.88/year €803.88/year €947.88/year €947.88/year
Over two years in total €1,319.76 €1,487.76 €1,775.76 €1,775.76

The Freebox Ultra was released as the most expensive box on the market. However, you have to carefully look at everything it has to offer to make the right choice. In fact, it can be more beneficial than other boxes due to its included services and advantageous prices. Also in the free list:

If you plan to subscribe to both Free and Canal, Freebox Ultra clearly stands out as the best possible choice. It’s also cheaper than Freebox Revolution, which nevertheless represents the operator’s entry-level offering. Note that the table is based on the prices displayed on the Free and Canal+ sites. Moreover, it is not interested in other features like speed, WiFi technology and other features. Be aware, though, that the Freebox Ultra performs better than the other models, ahead of the Pop and Revolution.
