Scarlett Johansson talks about having the ‘best skin of her entire life’ and what it took to get there

Scarlett Johansson’s personal skin care journey was not as glamorous as one might imagine.

The “Black Widow” star and mother of two said she has struggled with acne, skin sensitivity and production stress for years.

“Because of not doing anything (to clear my skin) and inadvertently disrupting my complete skin barrier, I went back to the basics,” Johansson told “Good Morning America.” “Within a week, my skin looked better than it had in years.”

After experiencing such a dramatic transformation, Johansson, along with beauty expert Kate Foster, decided to launch a clean and gentle skin care line for everyday use that launched in spring 2022.

This week, Johansson and Foster expanded their clean beauty roster by introducing two value sets, along with their full product line, to QVC audiences.

“Starting over doesn’t mean getting rid of everything you already have in your bathroom,” Johansson continued. “It’s about creating a system that you can rely on and trust to get your skin back.”

Johansson turns 40 this year and told “GMA” she’s really appreciating her natural beauty. “I’m much more accepting of what I used to see as flaws in the past. I’m more comfortable because of The Outset — the best skin I’ve ever had!”

“I go out of the house and sometimes I don’t even wear makeup — I present myself with pride and everything that it took to get here,” added Johansson.

Johansson shared how inspired she is by her fellow Hollywood A-listers who live in their natural beauty and embrace aging.

“From Jamie Lee Curtis to Pam Anderson, there’s such a profound movement of women living full lives and being grounded — they’re celebrating their uniqueness and putting their reality forward,” she said.

She added that the most gratifying part of her entrepreneurial journey has been seeing the changes in the skin health of her friends and family, including her husband Colin Jost, after using The Outset.

“The product that all my friends, including Colin and I, have been going through is the Firming & Plumping Vegan Collagen Prep Serum, which is a forgotten step in skin care. When I get to the bottom of my bottle, I’m like, ‘Now I What do I do?’” she laughed.
