Saoirse Ronan shares her cut Barbie cameo
Saoirse Ronan detailed her cut cameo from Barbie, revealing that she was originally meant to play a weird Barbie.
Greta Gerwig’s smash-hit comedy featured cameos from stars such as Dua Lipa, John Cena and Rob Brydon, but Ronan did not appear despite previously collaborating with the director on Lady Bird and Little Women.
However, Timothee Chalamet revealed that he was supposed to film a scene in the movie with Ronan, who explained to Variety why the scene never came to fruition.

“I don’t know what it was going to be, but I was definitely going to be a weird Barbie,” Ronan said. “I don’t know how to take it. If I was with Kate McKinnon, it would have been great. I had a scene but it was never meant to be and it wasn’t in the film.
“I don’t even remember (the scene) anymore, but it was weird. I think I’d be the weird girl who talked to herself and always had her pet dog with her and always talked to the dog and didn’t look at anyone.
In addition to box office success, Barbie also garnered widespread critical acclaim, resulting in eight nominations – including Best Picture – for the upcoming 96th Academy Awards in March.

Despite the impressive haul, Gerwig and Margot Robbie missed out on nominations in the Best Director and Best Leading Actress categories, with some of their co-stars coming out in support of the pair after labeling their mistakes a “snub”.
“They’re my girls, and I want to see their wonderful, wonderful work celebrated,” America Ferrara, who was nominated for best supporting actress, told Deadline. “They made history (and) set a new bar… (they) created something that resonated around the world.”
Barbie is available to buy or rent from Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store and more in the UK, as well as to watch on Mac in the US.
