The Carmine Corp incident occurs in the LEC

Yesterday, Riot Games kicked off the European League side 2024 season with the first day of the LEC Winter Split regular season, the first day that allowed us to explore the new competitive arena: Riot Games Arena. The ten teams competing for the title of European Champion returned to Summoner’s Rift, where the first five matches of the season were played on this first day, with some drawing more interest from the community than others.

This opening day of the 2024 LEC Winter Split set new viewership records, surpassing the entire first half of the previous season. According to data from EsportsCharts, this peak viewership reached over 600,000 viewers during the match between Karmine Corp and Fnatic. Unsurprisingly, the first steps of the French structure aroused great enthusiasm among the European elite, especially on the various channels that broadcast the match. Kamel “Cametto” Kabir, on Twitch, alone recorded over 140,000 viewers.

Maximilian Peter Schmidt, LoL Esports Head of EMEA, celebrated this remarkable success on social media, recalling that the peak audience in the first week of the 2023 season was 461,000 viewers. He also took this opportunity to thank the league’s official co-streamers, including Cameto, for their contribution to this success.

Thus, more than 600,000 spectators watched Carmine Corp’s first match in the LEC against Fnatic, known as the oldest and largest team in the league. This audience record may be surpassed this evening during the match between KCorp and G2 Esports, the reigning European champions. This highly anticipated face-off is scheduled around 7:00 pm and promises to be highly enthralling.
