New tools to ban smurfs? This is Riot Games’ promise for Season 14 of League of Legends
After the rest of this announcement
Unfortunately, and you know this very well, there is a lot of reprehensible behavior in League of Legends. We of course think of toxic players, who flame, int, afk base, or even run mid lane to kill themselves, and above in the community there are also what are commonly called smurfs, secondary accounts of players, with more or less high levels. .
If some don’t really affect our games, others completely unbalance them by finding themselves at a much lower level than their actual level., in which they enjoy walking around on summoners with low skill. Good news, Riot Games has decided to step up its fight against this phenomenon and plans to launch new tools for this Season 14.
Ban the “bad” Smurfs
The topic of Smurfs in League of Legends has always caused a lot of controversy. Regardless, Riot Games has decided to take action against what it considers the “bad” Smurfs; Players who create second accounts lower their MMR to find it much lower than their actual level, thus cheating the poor, helpless players. In an AMA on Reddit, players were able to ask the developers all sorts of questions, and one asked them about: “Whether it’s ranking, toxicity, or competitive integrity, Smurf accounts affect a lot of things. What are your thoughts on the subject of Smurf – and have you, as a team, considered banning the Dota 2 option?”
An employee of Riot Games, RiotIksar, gave him a thorough answer on the subject and specifically on the developers’ future plans regarding the Smurfs.
you must have understood Riot Games is therefore developing new tools to eliminate the evil Smurfs of our games, but they are not ready yet. The studio still needs a bit more time to improve them so they are “Faster and more accurate”.
More changes to come
In addition to clarifying the studio’s status and future plans regarding the Smurfs, RiotIksar gave some other interesting information about some of the upcoming changes. Quo Queues can be open at Master level, beyond Diamond level and even below – a rule that may vary from region to region.
Regarding the creation of the second account, RiotIksar raises an important point. Some players create another one because they think they are blocked from the main account. “We want to address any truth about this, as well as change the perception that it’s true. We have some ideas, but it’s too early to share.”
The developers still have a lot of projects for this year, Season 14 just started, and it’s a safe bet that they have a few surprises in store for us and for the better (at least, we hope).
