Miami couple accused of robbing elderly woman at gunpoint appear in court

He appeared in court Mario Cabasa (48 years) And Raquel Hernandez (36) A woman is accused of robbing her at gunpoint in the parking lot of the condominium where she lives on 18th Street and 15th Avenue in northwest Miami.

“The victim was parking her car when she saw the arrested woman with a cell phone in front of her as if she was talking on the phone and when she looked to the side, the man was with a rifle and said ‘Give me yours. Wallet,” he said. Mike Vega, Miami police spokesman, in a statement to AmericaTane.

Terrified, the woman handed over her purse and the criminals fled the scene in a black SUV.

Vega reported that the couple had committed several robberies under him Modus Operandi.

“That’s what they did in at least three cases in which they were also arrested: they used a rifle and a truck.”Vega added.

Authorities are not ruling out other victims and are urging the public to come forward.

“The more we can charge these people, the better we can make sure they stay in jail.”A Miami police spokesman concluded.

The accused used an electronic shackle which she removed and left in the vehicle in which they were travelling.And thankfully the authorities were able to find him.

After what happened, neighbors hope security will be increased at the building.

“All those doors are open and everyone knows the door code and the code for the entrance door,” a resident of the condominium told the aforementioned media.

Mario Cabasa and Raquel Hernandez appeared in criminal court Thursday on armed robbery charges, where Judge Mindy S. Glazer denied him bail.

The couple has an extensive criminal history. Cabasa faces federal theft and fraud charges, and Raquel Hernandez faces at least six charges including theft and driving with a suspended license.

Although the nationalities of those arrested have not been officially announced, a commenter on social networks confirmed that the woman is of Cuban origin and the man is Honduran, something that has not been confirmed.
