Joe Biden announced he had decided on a military response
The US president blamed Iran for a drone strike that killed three Americans and injured several others in Jordan last Sunday.
“Graduate Response”. US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday (Jan 30) that he has made a decision on how to respond to a drone strike that killed three US soldiers and injured dozens of others in Jordan on Sunday.
Joe Biden, however, declined to elaborate on the contours of this American response, answering only “yes” to a CNN reporter’s question on the subject.
“Possible Multiple Actions”
Asked about Iran, the US president said he held them “responsible for supplying weapons to the people who did this”, in this case the fighters responsible for the deadly attack near the Syrian border.
“I don’t think we need a full-scale war in the Middle East. That’s not what I’m looking for,” the American president said.
“It’s very likely that you will see a graduated response, not one action but potentially multiple actions,” White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby added later on the president’s plane.
A drone strike on Sunday targeted an American logistics base located in the middle of the Jordanian desert on the border between Iraq and Syria. Three people were killed and several dozen wounded, according to the US military.
