“It doesn’t exist on Earth!” Marie Dompnier (Adele) shows the great difference between series and reality

Monday January 29, France 2 continues to broadcast black heart, The highly successful and hyper-realistic series that follows a special forces commando in Iraq tasked with finding and discreetly extracting the daughter and grandson of Daesh’s newly captured French emir in exchange for information on a wave of planned attacks in France. After the first failed attempt and the second failed attempt, they set out on a mission again. If the entire cast of this fiction – available in full on Prime Video and france.tv – is impeccable, thanks in particular to the training followed with real soldiers, special mention to Nina Murisse, who plays a sniper, and Mary Dompnier, Adele’s interpreter, an obscure intelligence officer. Encounter.

Black Hearts: Marie Dompnier reveals what she didn’t want…

Télé-Loisirs. What drew you to the character of Adele?
Marie Domnier:
Nor is it ever mentioned that she is a woman. It’s there, that’s all. I think the series is way ahead of reality in this regard, as special forces are more masculine than feminine. I find this interesting because she is still the best in the hierarchy of this group of 45 and doesn’t cause anyone any problems. I told myself that I had to manage this almost natural authority. It was important to the character. We had to be able to believe it. The question arises for Nina Muris’ character because, on the ground, there is no such thing as a sniper. There are far more women in intelligence than snipers. It is indeed the will of literature that pleases the army. I also think that if the Special Forces have opened their doors to us, it is because they need to recruit, especially women, and encourage new businesses. Additionally, since the series aired on Amazon Prime, it has spawned emulation

category black heart Is it one of those projects we absolutely want to be a part of?
What I didn’t want to do was miss meeting the director, Ziad Douiri. It was very clear. He is a generous, passionate and apart from his talent, very hard working and united person. And it shows in the series, there is really good direction from the cast. It is a beautiful project, very well staged and of high quality. I am really happy to be a part of it.

How did you train for this role?
We were diving for eight days in Bordeaux with the 13th RDP, a special forces unit specializing in oxy-fall, meaning parachute jumping under oxygen. Doing this internship was not only great but necessary. I don’t see how we could have been credible without doing that. If only during progress with weapons. There is something almost choreographic about it. If you don’t know her, you can quickly look ridiculous! (she laughs) Of course, such roles require you to be physically fit. I also observed a lot of these soldiers. I was also interested to know how they react, to know their behavior when faced with this or that situation… because to embody people, we need more than lectures. They were great. They generously opened their arms to us. It was really very strong. I will never forget.

“This is a real military vest but …” Marie Dompnier (Adele) opens up about her role black heart

Compared to more “traditional” shoots, is there any particular stress on this one?
Yes, there are tensions in the subject that influence our work. That is to say, they’re in a war zone, in a totally extraordinary and dangerous situation, so we can’t play it like we’re in a corner cafe in Paris but we can’t be in a “surge” for six episodes either. In a way, it’s their daily life, so you have to find that right note of play. It’s all work, that’s what we’re here for. (He laughs.) And that’s why it was exciting. But yes, when you shoot a scene like in the tunnels where there are explosions everywhere, it could be empty bullets and firecrackers that work, there is tension. You have to go there, you have to jump, you move… Of course, you have to be physically ready. Not to mention that the HK-47 carries (Assault Rifle, Editor’s Note), it is heavy! At the end of the shoot, I was muscular! (He laughs.)

And a bulletproof vest!
These are real military vests but without plates because that would be complicated, because we are constantly moving and rehearsing scenes all day…

black heart There is also a series full of humanity, which we capture through different scenes, especially where Adele gives the sub a lucky charm before going on a mission…
It’s an idea that we came up with together with Nina (dies). We wrote it because, in our opinion, the script was missing a scene between them. We’re the only two military ladies on the show, we’ve never had a moment together. We found it strange, especially since we were to share the same room.

You will be gone soon Will shoot season 2 in Morocco black heart But do you have other plans?
This summer I filmed Homejacking With Yannick Choirat (seen recently All for Agnes, editor’s note). It is a series for OCS directed by Hervé Hedmar. It’s a kind of domestic thriller that starts with home-jacking in a very strange house, and where we follow a couple in their twenties. It is very well done! I don’t know when it will come out but I think it is going to be a big hit. (He laughs.) I have also written a feature film and a series but it is too early to talk about it.
