Here’s the help parents can take advantage of in 2024

Parents can benefit every month from various state aids paid by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) and in some cases by the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA). The objective is to help the concerned people to raise their children in good condition.

Basic Allowance

Basic Allowance is the most popular. This support is paid to only one child at a time. Parents get the benefit from the month after the child’s birth/arrival till the last month before the child turns three. For the full-rate basic allowance (184.81 euros), resources not to exceed 29,120 euros for one child and a single-income couple.

Regarding single parents or couples with 2 incomes, the amount for one child should not exceed 38,483 euros. For the partial rate basic allowance (92.40 euros), household resources must not exceed 34,791 euros for a couple with one child and one income and 45,979 euros for a single parent or couple with two incomes and only one dependent child.

Birth bonus

About the birth bonus, which amounts to 1,019.40 euros. It is paid to the expectant mother at the end of the 7th month of pregnancy. For a couple with one child and one income, the resource limit in 2022 should not exceed 34,791 euros. A This ceiling is the same for adoption bonuses. Parents who meet these conditions benefit from an aid of 2,083.81 euros.

Family Allowances

As for family allowances, they are intended for parents who have at least two dependent children under the age of 20. This assistance, paid through CAF, is based on the household’s resource ceiling. Thus, three pieces of resources emerge. For a couple with two children whose resource limit is less than 74,966 euros in 2024, the aid amounts to 141.99 euros.

For a couple with two children whose resource limit is between 74,966 and 99,922 euros, the basic amount of this support is 71 euros. Finally, for a couple with two children whose resource limit exceeds 99,922 euros, the amount of this support is then 35.50 euros. Please note that this assistance amount is increased when the second child is above 14 years of age.

Other assistance from CAF

Parents can also benefit from other support from CAF, such as the back-to-school allowance (this concerns parents with children aged 6 to 18 in school), CMG (free choice of childcare supplement). Dedicated PreParE (Shared Child Education Benefit) money to help parents with the cost of looking after their child under 6 or especially parents who stop working at the time of their child’s birth.
