Forgotten for 8 years, LoL players are begging Riot Games to change this champion

After the rest of this announcement

There are some League of Legends champions who are considered Riot Games favorites by the community. We of course think of Lux, Ahri or even Miss Fortune. Three champions that often provoke the wrath of certain players as they receive new skins. In terms of changes, some characters are also regular in the patch notes. Very strong, very weak, or even a balanced priesthood, some names come up more than others.

But among the more than 160 champions present on the MOBA, There’s one that seems particularly neglected by the developers, and its player base grows disillusioned with each passing season.

A (very) old champion

It was on Reddit that a player cried out in frustration for one of his favorite champions: Zilin. The timekeeper has not detected any major changes for more than 3000 days or 8 years.

I’ve posted about this before, but I’m a little surprised at how much this champion seems to have been forgotten. I don’t think he needs any drastic changes, but he’s rarely played in center and support anymore, and I think that’s partly because he hasn’t gotten the attention.

Zilin was reworked to its current form in patch 5.4. In patch 5.21, he gained his current passive, Time in a Bottle, which allows him to level up to an ally after accumulating enough experience. In patch 5.22, his mana regeneration was improved. In update 5.23, his ultimate was buffed a bit, ensuring that he always gives at least 15% of his stored experience.

Since then, its only changes have been systemic updates, such as mana changes for mages and durability updates.

I want this champion to get some attention. Its passive isn’t very good and it’s terrible to cast (you need to be next to the affected ally, you’re rooted in place, and it’s easy to accidentally cast). Its itemization is not very good in the middle or support. Somehow people will always say he’s hard to play against, but nobody wants to play him, which doesn’t sound like a good combination.

I don’t know exactly what he wants. I think if he came out today he would either have a more effective passive or his W would be his passive and he would have a more effective Z.

Zilin has been one of the League of Legends champions since its release in 2009, 15 years ago. If inevitably, when the roster was young, it regularly received changes, its position has now been stable for 8 years – which, it must be admitted, is too long.

One reason that could explain this situation is that he is not a popular character in the community or among professional players. In this season, He played only once, and in the minor leagues, in LCO, Oceanian League. That player was Kurak, a supporter of Australian team Kanga Esports, who picked him up and who also won with him.

Absolute champion?

Obviously, the community was quick to share its comments. “Main Zilin here, the only thing we really want to change is the passive. Currently we’re trying to use it legitimately before teamfights so we don’t accidentally root ourselves. It seems pointless. Instead passively give XP to nearby people. Allies.” said one player.

Many disagree and believe that Xylin will need nerfs if he is to be replaced. “It is widely believed that if changes are made to Zillion to increase its pick rate, it will not decrease at all. shh”, another player said. Some believe that the champion doesn’t really need any changes: “I’m pretty sure a zillion players don’t want a change. The champion is stupidly broke, but he’s an old guy with a watch in a support role, so nobody plays him.”Another added.

The heated debate also caught the attention of a Riot Games employee: “He could be the perfect champion” RiotRayYonggi concludes.
