Hello gamers and pop culture fans! Let’s talk about a game that made its way into our hearts without deserving commercial success: Sleeping Dogs.
Released in 2012 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the game developed by United Front Games and published by Square Enix achieved a respectable score of 83 on Metacritic. Unfortunately, despite these good returns, it was considered a commercial failure by Square Enix, which unfortunately cost it a sequel.
But be warned, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is a real gem. It’s also backwards compatible on the Xbox Series X|S and it’s just outstanding. A sequel was in the works before United Front Games shut down, but fans on Reddit are still waiting for Sleeping Dogs 2. And frankly, we can’t help but agree with them.
In a discussion on Reddit, gamers share their burning desire to see sequels to their favorite games. And guess what? Sleeping Dogs 2 is cited countless times, which proves that this game is definitely an anchor in the hearts of players.
Even if some suggest somewhat extreme offers to convince developers to start a second opus (like having a baby, seriously?!), it’s unlikely we’ll ever get to play Sleeping Dogs 2. But hey, in the video game industry, anything is possible! So we’re hopeful for a sequel to this underrated gem.
