Video game adaptations are on the rise. After the success of Super Mario Bros. film In theaters, or even an HBO series The Last of Us, is another major title that will soon land on our screens. Indeed, the most popular “sandbox” type of game is coming to our cinemas in 2025. If we don’t know the story of the Minecraft movie yet, we already know a lot of details about the team in charge of the project.

If his name means nothing to you, know that he worked specifically on the trilogy Lord of the Rings by Peter Jackson, has received numerous nominations throughout his career, and most notably won the Oscar for Best Design in 2004. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He also worked on King KongAgain by Peter Jackson, Mulan (2020), or else X-Men: Apocalypse (2016). A hell of a CV and long experience that he’ll put at the service of live-action Minecraft. He will design and supervise all the sets and objects seen in the film and will also look after the work of the art and costume department.
Many adaptations are to come
If we have to wait until 2025 to find a Minecraft movie (filming started last November), we’ll be looking for another video game adaptation very soon. In April, the highly anticipated Fallout series will arrive on Prime Video or the Metal Gear Solid film that has yet to be announced for this year.
We can also think of the rumor surrounding a possible future Call of Duty film with Henry Cavill in the title role, but nothing has been confirmed on the subject yet….
