A Cuban man who killed his former partner in Tapachula has been sentenced to 30 years in prison

The Mexican justice system sentenced a Cuban man to 30 years in prison in late November 2023 for brutally murdering his ex-partner in a bar in Tapachula.

The control judge and trial court of Tapachula passed the sentence after hearing the testimony of the eyewitnesses of the incident.

They said that around 2:00 p.m., a 34-year-old Cuban was working in the establishment when Ivan, a 32-year-old Cuban also entered with a machete.

“Without uttering a word, he pounced on Yarlenis and brutally assaulted him, causing multiple injuries to his face, stomach and legs,” they said.

Despite the efforts of Diner and co-workers to stop the aggressor, Ivan “N” manages to flee the scene; But when he was crossing the street, the municipal traffic police stopped him and detained him.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to provide medical aid to the victim, but he no longer had vital signs.

The State Attorney General’s Office in Mexico expressed its “strong rejection of any form of violence against women” and assured that it was highly committed. These crimes do not go unpunished.

Days after the crime, the girl’s relatives sought help in repatriating her body so they could bury it in her hometown. They explained that she and her accomplice were traveling from Mexico to reach the United States border.
