Bastia allowed the withdrawal of firm points

Repeated racist incidents by some of Bestia’s supporters ended up fining the Corsican club. On Wednesday evening, the league’s disciplinary committee decided to withdraw a firm point from the standings at Bastia, who are currently 13th in Ligue 2 with 24 points and who now have just 23, tied with Troyes.

On 16 December, the sanction follows insults, particularly racism, by some Bastia supporters during the reception of Quévilly-Rouen (0-0). That evening, the assistant referee was heavily insulted, causing the match to be interrupted and announced by the announcer. In a scathing press release, SAFE (Union of Elite Football Referees) stepped up to the plate, specifically suggesting: “Such comments are unacceptable when directed against a player, but when a football referee is insulted as a “dirty Arab” should we be silent about it? »

Considering the seriousness of the facts, and after investigating the case, the Disciplinary Commission decided to impose on Sporting Clube de Bastia, currently ranked 13th in L2, “Up a solid point in the rankings”.
