European regulators get the ball rolling
Apple, used to leading the ball, must now dance to the rhythm of European regulators, especially with the Digital Market Act (DMA).
These new rules force the Apple brand to open up its previously closed universe to third-party app stores. This is a real revolution for Apple, which should review its copy and conform to these requirements.
And it is further away. There was also something new on the messaging side. After playing hardball, Apple said yes to the RCS standard. This change will allow better communication between iOS and Android users.
Catching up on AI
As for innovation, Apple missed the boat a bit on AI. But with iOS 18, they are all set to make a grand comeback.
Siri, often criticized for its lackluster performance, will finally be given a facelift thanks to AI. We’re talking about generative AI technologies that can make Siri a smarter assistant, able to complete your sentences and answer your questions more intelligently.
