“We need to demote players more honestly”, ranking system will undergo new changes with LoL patch 14.2
After the rest of this announcement
For more than a week, players have discovered Season 14 League of Legends, and many have already started climbing the ladder. Some have already completed their placement games and thus found their starting rank. Some people may not know that, But the developers made some adjustments regarding the ranked mode before the start of the season. Emerald tier has been shrunk, MMR adjusted, and LP gain/loss adjusted.
But the players are complaining (as always?), because not everything is going as planned. As a result, new changes are being classified with patch 14.2.
Better reflect the true level of players
In Patch 14.1, of Season 14, the developers already made adjustments regarding Ranked mode and more specifically regarding player ranking. For them, some players displayed a much higher level than their true MMR. “To fix this, relegation was made a bit easier to avoid cases where a player has a visible rank of Platinum with Silver MMR. Additionally, we adjusted matchmaking so that the visible ranks in the living room are smaller.” Can we read in the patch notes then.
Apparently this change isn’t enough, and so the developers are planning to make the demo less forgiving, as Matt explains “Fraxzone” Leung-Harrison, lead gameplay designer for LoL, previewed the changes coming with patch 14.2 on Twitter/X.
The developer also stressed on it The upcoming changes will mainly target higher ranksWhere players are ranked above their actual playing level.
what else
In addition to this change, which is significant and should have a significant impact on players, the developers have also noted another black point at the beginning of the season. Indeed, Riot Games wanted to protect summoners against LP damage more than gain, but apparently not everything works as expected and Some players lose more LP than they gain — a problem that will also be linked to the problem mentioned above.
Hopefully these new changes will fix the issues seen with patch 14.1. But one thing is for sure, the developers are listening, and doing their best to improve them. Patch 14.1 brought a large amount of changes, so it was unfortunately clear that not everything worked as expected.
