Three people are dead after a shooting at an alleged Airbnb party in Texas

(CNN)– Three people were killed and possibly more injured after a shooting at what police believe was a party at an Airbnb rental outside Houston, Texas, on Saturday night.

“We believe it was a small gathering that turned deadly,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said at a news conference early Sunday morning. “We were told that it was some type of short-term rental, possibly Airbnb, that was contracted to use the residence, and that it may have been some type of meeting with some young adults, maybe all in their 20s, when suddenly , things turned deadly.

According to Gonzalez, responding police officers arrived at the “active” and “chaotic” scene that unfolded shortly after 2 p.m. Two people died on the property and another died at the hospital, he said.

Gonzalez added that investigators still don’t know if the alleged attacker or attackers were inside the home or if someone came uninvited and opened fire.

Outside the house, there are also signs of gunfire on the street, he explained.

Investigators are still trying to determine what happened, the suspect or suspects and how many people were injured, Gonzalez said.

Katy is a city located west of Houston in Harris County.
