“This is the most blatant match-fixing ever”, these two pro LoL players have been accused of cheating, Riot Games has finally cleared them
After the rest of this announcement
Riot Games has zero tolerance for cheating in League of Legends, whether it concerns casual players like you and me, but also professionals. When they were accused of match fixing, two professional players from regional leagues were released by Riot Games, a decision that was very poorly received by the community.
Suspicious behavior
In France we have LFL, in Eastern Europe we have Ultraliga, another regional league. This is where the scam came out. During the match between Iron Wolves and Team ESCA the two players were suspected of not playing properly because to many, they did nothing to win the game.. The two affected players are Wen “Kaylin” Zheng and Shuai “Odin” Wang, Iron Wolves’ jungler and mid laner, respectively.
On Reddit, Spectators made a list of all the inconsistencies they saw during the match, such as when one of them refused to tap a blocker, or when they fought without using their abilities, or even when one refused to secure an easy kill. A long list suggests that the behavior of both players is not normal.
Despite all this, the Iron Wolves still won, but both players were suspended for two matches due to suspicions, while Riot Games conducted an investigation.
Lack of evidence
After a few days of investigation, league officials decided there was not enough evidence to convict either player. He was relaxed, and therefore could play again in his team.
This decision was very poorly received by the community who believed that the fraud was obvious: “This is the most blatant match fixing ever, anyone with eyes that have played League can see it. Leaving the blocker at 1hp and walking away, fighting Lee Solo 1v4 for no reason, don’t try to cast abilities. Jace any In combat, giant, etc. Wintrader’s League GG.” Can we read below the official tweet. An opinion shared by almost all comments.
