When asked to recall the details of the screening, Butler said: “I went with my dad when I was very young. We went to the Egyptian Theater, and that’s the first time I saw it on the big screen. It is a collaboration between a young De Niro and Scorsese. The amount of talent and inspiration I experienced from and especially with those films is incredible. The actor added: “The freedom I see when I watch him, the subtlety he has and then the explosive moments. And it’s incredibly dynamic. I can’t take my eyes off him. Today, we might take it more for granted, but it’s really the first of its kind where they pause filming, and it carries that weight. So, the physical investment he made in that film is also really inspiring. And it’s just beautifully shot. I love music. I love black and white…”
Scorsese and Robert De Niro have collaborated on several occasions, including their latest feature. Assassins of Flower Moon.
