On December 21, 2022, Ariel Henry signed an agreement with political parties and civil society organizations, where he committed to leave office on February 7, 2024, as per Article 20.
“We are monitoring the situation in Haiti and we are prepared for any situation of instability, which is not new in Haiti, a situation of instability that has been constant for the last two and a half years. Regarding water for agricultural production, the director of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRI), Olmedo Caba, reported that the state has guaranteed water supply for all production in the country.
“Currently the dam is at a very satisfactory level, the dam is in a position to deliver water for more than 5 million agricultural production under irrigation which we deliver water to more than 100 thousand agricultural producers every day, every morning. He indicated that planning was carried out in collaboration with the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (CAASD), the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA) and other organizations that work with drinking water to deliver this liquid to the Dominican people. . .
Likewise, he explained that the government is working on the modernization of the irrigation system in San Juan de la Maguana with an investment of 150 million dollars.
Monte Grande Dam
During an activity highlighting the government’s various achievements on water issues, Luis Abinader reported that the state has issued a tender for its design, three new dams including the Don Miguel Dam on the Dajabon River bed; From Joca and Barahona’s Nizaito Dam in Elias Pina.
“Never before have so many dams been designed. We are not going to do all that (dam construction) but they will be there in the meantime,” Abinader said.
Referring to the Monte Grande Dam, he reported that the government is currently holding several tenders for its completion and that it is estimated to be completed in 24 to 30 months.
