Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden are to step down from production banner The Outrun. The company’s debut feature The Outrun, starring Ronan, recently premiered at Sundance 2024.
Saoirse Ronan (little women) and Jack Lowden (slow horse) will step down from their production banner Arcade Pictures. Loden founded Arcade Pictures with producer Dominic Norris in 2019 (Modern life is nonsense). Ronan joined the company as a director in 2021. Norris will remain with the company.
Following its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, the company’s first feature, The Outrun, is set to have its international premiere at the Berlin Film Festival next week. Arcade Pictures unveiled the project in 2022.
“Arcade was created to create ‘The Outrun’ and Dominic will continue to drive that banner train,” said a spokesperson on behalf of Arcade Pictures. “Jack and Saoirse are excited to celebrate the film as it makes its debut and beyond, and will continue to look for more passion projects to develop together in the future.”
The Outrun The film is an adaptation of Amy Liptrot’s addiction memoir of the same name, directed by Nora Fingscheid. In the film, Ronan plays Rona, a struggling alcoholic who, after losing control of her life, goes to rehab and then flees to the Orkney Islands in Scotland, where she reconnects with the land she grew up in. .
Actors include Papa Esidu (Gangs of London), Stephen Dillen (Game of Thrones) and Saskia Reeves (slow horse).
The adaptation was co-written by Fingscheidt and Liptrot. Protagonist pictures are increasing sales worldwide.
