Sandra Bullock’s Secrets to Getting Old at 59

Since her rise to fame in the late 1980s, Sandra Bullock seems to have stood still.

The Ocean’s 8 actress, 59, has turned heads with her beauty in films such as Miss Congeniality in 2000, Two Weeks Notice in 2002 and The Proposal in 2009.

Many fans spent the holidays re-watching her biggest films and reminiscing about her age-defying appearance on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“What’s going on, Sandra Bullock and Selma Hayek and some other actresses are not 30,” one person tweeted.

“Didn’t know Sandra Bullock was 59. She’s aging so well,” wrote another.

“Sandra Bullock is a beauty she doesn’t age (heart eyes) #SundayNightMovie,” said a third.

The actress shocked many when she announced that she would be taking a break from the silver screen after the release of the action movie The Lost City.

Since then she has kept a low profile and has rarely been seen in public since the tragic death of her long-time partner Brian Randall in August.

Sandra’s quest for Hollywood stardom began in 1986, when she moved to New York to study at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater.

She secured supporting roles in motion pictures after impressing critics with the off-Broadway play No Time Flat.

After her first lead role in Who Shot Pet? In 1989, Sandra dominated the 1990s and the noughties with films like Gravity and The Heat.

She has candidly spoken in interviews that she doesn’t have much time to focus on skincare and only spends eight minutes on her routine.

We took a deep dive into Sandra Bullock’s anti-aging secrets to find out how she stays young with minimal effort.

Skin care

Sandra went viral after an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, in which the host inquired about her “obsession” with epidermal growth factor facials, also known as “penis facials.”

The actress explained that the beauty treatment involves a microneedling process that boosts collagen in the skin.

“You’ll look like a burn victim for a day but then he’ll push the serum in,” Sandra said.

She’s initially reluctant to explain what’s in the serum but Allen flatly says it’s “Korean baby foreskin.”

“It’s an extraction from a piece of skin that came from a young person far away,” Sandra said.

“I call it a penis facial. And I think when you see how good it is for your face, you too will run to your local facialist and say, ‘Give me a dick.’

According to Cosmopolitan, a one-of-a-kind beauty treatment costs about $650.

Celebrity facialist Georgia Lewis explained to PEOPLE that the FDA-approved serum is made using skin collected during circumcision.

“I always explain that EGF is taken from the foreskin of a newborn baby, but the cells were (from the foreskin) and taken from that, the new cells are cloned from the lab,” Lewis said.

Sandra previously shut down rumors that her wrinkle-free face was the result of fillers.

In 2018, it was speculated that she went through the process before moving on to the 90th Academy Awards.

“This past Oscar I was sick and I had allergies, but I was like, ‘I’m just going to go. It’s part of my job, and I’m happy to be there,” she told InStyle.

“Then the next day they were saying, ‘Oh, she’s got cheek fillers and implants.'”

Sandra also swears by hemorrhoid cream (which you can buy at the drugstore for $7) to get rid of the puffy bags under her eyes.

“My favorite beauty pageant secret: I had no idea putting hemorrhoid ointment on your face was acceptable in the beauty business,” Sandra Bullock said in 2005, at the premiere of Miss Congeniality 2.

“But apparently the butt cream helps the lines around the eyes.”

A decoration

Celebrity makeup artist Angela Levine has done Sandra’s makeup for the red carpet several times throughout the year.

He revealed to British Vogue that he prepared the actress’ skin using Chanel Sublimation Fluid, which costs $315 from the brand’s website.

She then used a brush to apply Vitalumier Satin Smoothing Fluid Foundation, $55.

She drew attention to her eyes using three coats of Indelible Waterproof Mascara for $35, and finished the look with Rouge Coco lipstick in Rang Paris.

“I wanted her to look like a true movie star, so we went with modern classy Hollywood — dewy skin, soft eyes and a bold, classic red lip,” Angela said after the Oscars in 2010.

the hair

Sandra’s glossy brunette hair was described as another character in reviews of Oceans 8, although her styling for the film Lona Vigi left it as natural as possible.

She told The Cut that people have called her asking how Sandra’s character is able to get her hair done in prison.

“I didn’t use a ton of stuff. I used some oils that I would combine to run through her hair,” said Lona.

“I used hairspray on bits. “Sandy likes to watch Hawaii and pieces of socks – I’ve used Elnet a lot.”

Oribe Gold Lust Oil is available from Nordstrom for $57, while Rodin Hair Oil is available on Amazon for $70.

fitness

Sandra Bullock’s Bird Box co-star Trevante Rhodes told ET that he shows up to work every morning at 5 a.m. in his workout clothes.

The actress once told Style “If I could work out every day, I would” as she revealed that she enjoys running and cycling.

Mom now swears by the Body by Simon training technique that combines dance cardio, yoga and Pilates to sculpt the body.

Fitness expert Simone De La Rue said women’s health celebrities usually come to her when they have a goal they can focus on, like a movie or a red carpet dress.

Her one-hour workout exercises the entire body, and she encourages her clients to track their diet and exercise using a journal.

“There’s always cardio like dancing, jump roping or rebounding,” she said.

“Then we alternate between 10-minute intervals of high-intensity cardio and strength training moves that focus on different body parts.”

DIET

According to PopSugar, Sandra relies on meals from an LA-based food delivery service to keep her in shape.

She practices portion control while eating sugar-free, gluten-free dishes, including free-range turkey and hormone-free chicken.

She has a weekly “cheat day” that allows her to eat whatever she wants for 24 hours, such as “dark chocolate with bacon.”

The A-lister added in a Q&A with Parade that she has to drink green tea.
