Scotland experience two radically opposite matches before facing France next Saturday in Edinburgh. Full of confidence, guided perfectly by Finn Russell, the Chardon XV quickly dominated the Welsh first team on their lawn in Cardiff on Saturday 3 February. Then, he rested on his laurels and allowed the suddenly released Welsh to slowly retreat.
In the midst of a generational transition, they initially seemed to pay dearly for their inexperience. By multiplying the faults of indiscipline, they gave the Scots a stick to beat themselves with. Trailing 27-0 on their pitch after returning from the locker room, the Welsh finally decided to respond, taking advantage of a Scottish yellow card to reduce the score to two tries.
From then on, the match shifted into another dimension, completely insane, which saw Wales, backed by a melting crowd, claw their way back to the very small point of a petrified Scots. However, Gregor Townsend’s men bravely managed to hold on to their slim advantage to claim victory after an unbelievable match.
